Description

The professional signaling/warning lamp from the British manufacturer Wolf Safety Lamp, model Hazard Lamp HL-95 Zone 0, 1 and 2, is a semi-portable, freestanding lamp with light sensor, used to provide continuous or intermittent warning light and is CE marked according to the ATEX Directive for safe use in hazardous areas with a potential risk of explosion.

The HL-95 is powered by a primary battery, which has an exceptionally high capacity for a relatively light package size and weight. A single battery provides a continuous flashing light duration of up to 1500 hours or two months. In static mode, where the lamp is continuously on, the duration will be up to 500 hours.

The lamp's operation and selection of flashing or static mode is achieved by a single three-position switch mounted on the exterior of the lamp. A further extension of battery life can be achieved by selecting the "daylight off mode" via the selector mounted inside the switch. If the lamp is used outdoors, a light sensor detects when darkness falls and activates the lamp accordingly. Likewise, when the light level increases, it automatically turns off, saving battery life. It is estimated that a lamp that flashes on and off in daylight can operate for up to six months on a single battery.

The HL-95 has two lenses positioned "back to back" thus providing an intensity greater than 2cd. The light is provided by a pair of "eternal" light-emitting diodes. The use of such solid-state devices allows the lamp to be placed in explosion hazard zones 0, 1 or 2. The diode light is colored amber and is positioned behind a transparent plastic lens. The lens are protected from damage by a stainless steel guard mounted directly to the impact-resistant bracket on the static dissipative polypropylene lamp body.
