Description

Hybrid Pulse Capacitors (HPC) are used in various energy, water and gas meters, tracking devices or other LoT/smart devices, when the space provided for the battery does not allow the choice of a large, high-pulse capacity battery. The capacitor's role is to increase the maximum pulse developed by the battery alone - this would also be possible by choosing a larger battery, but when space in the device is limited it can be a simpler and even cheaper solution than replacing the battery with a much larger one. Also, the weight of the capacitor is very low.

The capacitor is used connected in parallel with a lithium battery (lithium-thionyl or LiSOCl₂) typically used in GPS tracking/locator systems, digital meters, CNC memory, etc. where it offers very high autonomy in applications with low currents or pulse operation.

The capacitor mounted in parallel with a LiSOCl₂ battery increases the energy efficiency of the battery, but also prevents its passivation.
